The Everybody Open Your Eyes Project is being carried out by PAHO sub-grantee, the Brazilian NGO, Transformarte. This project aims to create public awareness about the symptoms and treatment of tuberculosis in poor communities in the Rio de Janeiro metropolitan area. Transformarte trains children from poor communities to perform street theater presentations illustrating the symptoms of TB and encouraging people with these symptoms to go to the nearest health service for testing. Transformarte is also using community radio and TV programs to provide information about TB to people in their homes.
