The Nurse Supervisor Training Project is being carried out by PAHO/Brazil. The aim of this project is to ensure effective and timely monitoring and evaluation of DOTS expansion and implementation by forming a corps of nurse supervisors. Once trained, the nurse supervisors will periodically visit state and municipal tuberculosis programs in regions which have the highest tuberculosis disease burden. The nurses will concentrate their efforts on teaching health professionals at the local level to monitor, evaluate and reorganize their TB control activities.
