FERNANDO DE NORONHA, October 30, 2009 - On October 30 the Chargé d’ Affaires a.i for the US Embassy in Brazil Lisa Kubiske visited the Island of Fernando de Noronha to learn about an integrated resources project that will be developed by NREL-National Renewable Energy Laboratory in partnership with USAID, Neo Energia Group and German Technical Cooperation – GTZ.
Grupo Neo Energia is a local electricity holding partner of USAID working on energy and corporate social responsibility projects, which has requested technical cooperation in assessing and designing an integrated renewable energy and energy efficiency plan to supply the Fernando de Noronha Island off of Brazil’s Northeast coast. The plan is expected to be concluded by April 2010, and Neo Energia has committed to implant the plan on the Island.
