The Forest Enterprise Cluster promotes and improves sustainable management of natural resources. The four cluster partners incorporate sustainable natural resource management practices and technologies into economically productive sectors by focusing activities on sustainable production, capacity building, forest monitoring and collaboration with state and federal agencies on forest administration and management.

The International Institute for Education of Brazil (IEB) builds the capacity of local communities, forest enterprises and government to develop sustainable community forest businesses that generate income and well being for local populations in Amazonia.

The Institute for Ecological Research (IPÊ) works with both environmental and governmental tourism institutions. Its main objective is to promote conservation by working with local communities, tour operators and guides, thus raising awareness, educating through interpretation, and contributing to the organization of sustainable tourism activities.

The Tropical Forest Institute (IFT) focuses on developing capacity where approved forest management is already underway and developing demonstration models of multiple use forest management so that both serve to promote sustainable forest management as an economically viable option for the region.

The Amazon Institute for People and Environment (Imazon) pioneered the development of remote sensing techniques to map forest damage associated with selective logging, with support from USAID and other donors. It aims to increase transparency in the forest sector and promote the sustainable production, use and consumption of timber products from the Amazon rainforest.
